James from Rock Island asks: “Why did my polling
station location change?”
The recent consolidation of voting stations affected
those of you, like James, living in precinct South Rock Island 08. Now, instead
of going to vote at the First Church of the Nazarene on 38th Street, you will
vote with all our District's other voters of South Rock Island Township (voters
living south of 18th Avenue) at the Tri-City Jewish Center on 30th Street. The
voters who live north of 18th Avenue in Rock Island will still vote at South
Park Presbyterian Church at 15th Avenue and 30th Street. Voters who live in
Moline and also on 46th Street/47th Street Ct/29th Ave/30th Ave Ct in Rock
Island will still vote at Bethany Baptist Church off 7th Street and John Deere
Rd in Moline. Early Voting and Vote-by-Mail is also an option for casting your
vote. The County Clerk's Office has consolidated 8 polling
stations throughout the County going from 46 stations down to 38. This
consolidation will save approximately $16,000 in election costs per year (approx.
$1,000 per station, per election).
