Human Resources Committee Report for June 2016

The Human Resources Committee met on Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016.

We approved the minutes of the May meeting.


We authorized claims and treasurer’s disbursements.


Dr Ross presented revised and new employee policies including the Purpose & Scope/Disclaimer, Equal Employment Opportunity, General Fund Reserve, Performance Appraisals, Nepotism, Orientation, and County Holidays. The committee recommended approval with some suggested language changes.


From the Health & Human Services Committee, we considered the Hope Creek Human Resources Assistant job description and opening such position for hire. We recommended approval of both and sent the request to hire to the Finance Committee. 


The Committee discussed the employee death benefit, which provides a benefit of $10,000 to beneficiaries of active employees age 65 and under, and $1,000 to former employees upon their death if such employees were participants in the employee health insurance plan. We recommended that Dr Ross write a policy that would bring the county in line with current practice and that we pay an existing claim of $1,000.


The Committee heard reports from the County Auditor, the Health Insurance Planning Committee, and the Human Resources Director.
